In honor of the successes of the HUNOR Hungarian Astronaut Program, the Hungarian National Bank issued commemorative coins on December 1, with a face value of 20,000 forints in silver and 3,000 forints in non-ferrous metal. The front of the coins feature iconic motifs from the HUNOR program, while the back shows research astronauts Tibor Kapu and Gyula Cserényi in half profile.
The non-ferrous metal commemorative coin has been on display in a new showcase in the fifth section of the Money Museum. Next to Tibor Kapu, in a separate showcase, is Bertalan Farkas, the first Hungarian astronaut, with a coin issued in 1980 to commemorate his journey.
