With the capsule, the Petőfi Literary Museum (PIM) and the Petőfi Cultural Agency (PKÜ) sent a book "into the future". "The time is Right" is the Petőfi tricentenary anthology of the Hungarian Culture magazine. In addition to Petőfi's poems, it includes works by poets who are still alive today, poems which, because of their themes, the questions they raise and their emotional and intellectual content, are connected to the aspirations and challenges of the reform era.
The manuscript was written in the hope and expectation that in a hundred years' time the then Director General of the Petőfi Literary Museum would publish this book of poems. We believe that whatever the next century holds, in 2123, the 300th anniversary of Petőfi's birth will be celebrated in the Carpathian Basin by Hungarians, who will still care about literature.
In addition to contemporary poems, the time capsule also contains a message from Prime Minister Viktor Orbán for those who will hold the book a hundred years from now. The stability of the Central Bank of Hungary is a guarantee that this manuscript will not become a forgotten document in some collection," said the PIM’s Director General.
