Budapest, the 26^th of April in 2024 - A temporary exhibition entitled Financial Century - 100 Years of the Magyar Nemzeti Bank opened on the 26^th of April at the Money Museum. The choice of date is no coincidence: the law establishing the Magyar Nemzeti Bank came into force on the 26^th of April in 1924.

A unique and informative exhibition shows the path from the Austrian National Bank to the Austro-Hungarian Bank to arrive at the independent central bank of today in the end. The exhibition gives a tangible insight into the activities and tasks of the Magyar Nemzeti Bank. It gives a glimpse into the life of the central bank and introduces its governors and famous staff. Physical relics, archival footage, numismatic treasures and never-before-issued commemorative coin plans will be within arm's reach of the visitors.
The temporary exhibition, which can be visited free of charge and without registration, will capture the interest of visitors by presenting key economic and financial events, using digital and static content and interactive elements.

The exhibition, which will be open until the 30^th of December in 2024, is an excellent complement to the permanent exhibition of the Hungarian Money Museum and Visitor Center, which also commemorates the early days of the MNB, including the work of its first governor, Sándor Popovics. Visitors can glimpse inside the Governor’s Office, see a contemporary bank branch and a model of the MNB’s headquarters on Szabadság Square.
The 26^th of April is an important date in other respects too. The MNB 100 national quiz competition was also launched on this very day. The competition is open to high school and university students. The questions of the quiz, which will last for six months, will be mainly related to the history of the central bank, with economic and financial questions. A total of 100 prizes will be drawn. Every month, valuable prizes will be awarded to the players who complete the quizzes, and those who participate and complete all the quizzes for 6 months will win an Apple iPad.
