The Money Museum hosted a special event yesterday: we organized the event titled The Day of the Golden Train, which recalled one of the most exciting and still partly mysterious chapters of Hungarian history.
Eighty years ago, an extraordinary situation arose, the gold reserves of the Hungarian National Bank were in danger. However, the institution's dedicated employees acted with unprecedented courage and sense of responsibility when they risked everything to secure the country's gold reserves.
During the event, visitors could delve into the details of the story through lectures, panel discussions and film screenings.
A day when past and present met and we got closer to what really happened to the Golden Train.
